WeAreTeachers released a fascinating article on March 6, 2018 about emotional regulation in the classroom. Children of all ages, and even some adults, struggle to be able to recognize and remain in control of their emotions. Especially in middle school, hormones surge and immediate reactions to conflict occur constantly. The outside lives of students' permeate the classroom and can cause many behavioral problems. Some of the ideas presented in the article are interesting and potentially extremely beneficial for classrooms. It encourages teachers to address students' emotions daily. By giving students opportunities to address their emotions and understand them, they can eventually gain the ability to control their actions as responses to emotions. If students are able to deal with their emotions in a healthy way, they are better able to focus and learn. Regardless of how exceptional an individual may be, the combined strength of all is far greater. Professional learning networks serve to bridge the gap of knowledge between educators to form impactful connections to share knowledge, create understanding, and unite to provide the best education possible for all students.
